The Aspire Zone

What is the Aspire Zone in Doha, Qatar?

Located just eight kilometres from Doha’s Central Business District, the Aspire Zone (previously Khalifa Sports City) is establishing itself as a “centre of excellence” in sport education and training, health and sports medicine, and leisure and recreation.

The Aspire Zone is being developed in partnership with the ASPIRE sports academy, the Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, and the Qatar National Olympic Committee. Its 240 hectares are home to:

  • The ASPIRE sports academy and its multipurpose sports hall.
  • The opulent Khalifa International Stadium, which is crowned by an awe-inspiring arch and has a seating capacity of 50,000.
  • The Dome, with its state-of-the-art sports science labs, has a variety of sporting venues including a full-sized football field and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
  • The 50-bed Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, which offers comprehensive diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation, and physiotherapy services for sports injuries.
  • TThe National Teams Super Club, a coaching and training facility.

Created as a “place for all to enjoy”, the Aspire Zone also includes a Women’s Club Sports Hall, a Ladies Club (the first women’s recreational facility of its kind in Qatar), an outdoor athletics track, an aquatic centre, parklands, and a mosque. The tallest building in Qatar is also located in the Aspire Zone – the 300m Aspire Zone Tower. Its facilities include a VIP Lounge, a ballroom and conference centre, a five-star hotel, a health club, a sports museum, and a revolving restaurant at 200 meters. Residential facilities and upscale shopping facilities (the Villagio Shopping Mall) are currently under construction.
