In this role, the Senior Infection Control Coordinator will plan, organize, coordinate, and evalute the hospital-wide infection control program in collaboration with the Medical Director of Infection Control & Environmental Health and the Hospital Epidemiologist. Specific responsibilites for this position include:
- Developing and monitoring a process for collecting and analying infection control data.
- Developing and evaluating criteria for health-care associated infections to be used in serveillance activities.
- Identifying and reporting epidemiological variations to the infection control chairman and committee and making recommendations.
- Collaborating in the development or revision nof infection control policies.
- Designing special studies, as indicated, when pathogens display unusual trends.
- Coordinating the reporting of communicable diseases to Ministry of Health authorities.
- Providing infection control orientation to new employees and coordinating the infection control education efforts of the department.
- Ensuring that the Infection Control Standards for Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) are met.
- Participating in Hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Nursing, public health or microbiology and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of five years experience as a Registered Nurse, including three years as a Senior Infection Control Coordinator, at a large acute-care teaching hospital in North America.
